It is important not to pick bad passwords. It is a bad idea to use a password that is easy for someone who knows you to guess, such as a name (e.g. “Joshua”) or date. Sequences that are easy to type, such as “Qwerty,” are also too easy for someone else to guess. A password which is written down can always be found.
The best passwords are nonsense, such as “rotg 47 flawets,” although it is difficult to remember nonsense. The longer a password is, the less likely someone is to guess it correctly. Another reasonably good kind of password that is easy to remember is a phrase, such as “a stitch in time”, though it is also easier for someone to guess. You can take a normal word or phrase and put a few unusual characters in it, such as “Ultra%Drive!” giving a reasonably secure, easily remembered password.
It is a good idea to change your passwords from time to time. That ensures that only you have access to your protected data.
